Match.com now on the iPhone. Meanwhile eHarmony…, uh, doesn’t work on the device.

Match.com now on the iPhone

I hope that when eHarmony does come to the iPhone, iPhones are still around….

Note to Readers: eHarmony Blog has been iPhone- and iPod Touch- ready since March 2008. Visit us on the iPhone sometime and see.

Match.com has been working on phones for a while with some sort of text-message notification thing – that you can know when someone has looked at your profile, etc.

I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s not like I have so many matches clamoring to message me that I need a mobile device to manage the inflow or the convenience that a PDA/phone offers (referring either to Match.com or eHarmony). Many better ways to spend their programming equity.

I want to meet these people that actually get messages so frequently. Who are they and why are they not me?

It’s one thing to be notified of messages anywhere (yes, messages happen rarely). It’s another thing to be able to surf for prospects wherever and whenever you’re bored.

Years ago, your personal ad was limited to the paper it appears on. Next, your personal ad was limited to the desktop or laptop computer it appears on. Today, your personal ad is limited to … anywhere there’s a cellphone signal. In full fidelity.

Agreed on the surf anywhere part. I guess I am a little biased since my laptop or a computer is with me all the time (if not, I probably would want to have an access option via phone).

There is no excuse to not implement a standards compliant website that adapts to mobile devices. However, the notion of “surfing for prospects” doesn’t really apply to eH, like it does to Match, does it? There is no surfing and you more or less “dispatch” matches. I guess a decent mobile interface for communication would be reasonable but just how important is it to answer a communication on-the-go?

    I just downloaded ‘harmony helper’
it’s a 3rdparty frontend to eharmony that allows you to browse your matches by photo.
it has a few other features too.
