Thank you eHarmony for enriching people’s vocabularies. The world is so much better right now because we’ve learned this word. All together now, let’s say it slowly: obs-tre-pe-ROOS-ness!

What does it mean? In three words obstreperousness means, “can’t be pleased.” You could also look up the site’s definition, and Neil Clark Warren’s definition.

Why is this word important? It’s the “black hole” of the 29 dimensions. If you are obstreperous, eHarmony will kick you out of the system and say “Sorry we cannot provide you the service.” If you’re kicked out, then you won’t visit eHarmony Blog anymore. That’s why this word is important.

But I’m not obse-… obstepre-… I mean, I’m not whatever-it-is! Well, me neither! You have to answer high or low on the personality test as follows:

  • 6. Agreeable – very much
  • 9. Optimistic – very much
  • 12. Optimistic – check
  • 13. I need to win at whatever I am involved in – not at all
  • 4. I can accept the circumstances of my life as they are – very much
  • 1. I try to make sure that my position prevails – not at all
  • 8. I am passionate/intense about my position – not at all
  • 17. Knowing that my spouse is usually to blame when things go wrong – not at all

Got it? There, you’re not obstreperous anymore. Happy? If not, then may be you are – there’s no pleasing you. Sorry, eHarmony Blog cannot help you, too.

P.S. The funny thing is that eH lists Judgmental, Denial and Pessimism among the Can’t Stand choices when obviously the compatibility test already rejects people with these personality traits. Unless they are also Lying and Cheating, I guess.
