Without informing any of the 14 million registrants or its millions of customers, eHarmony updates its Terms and Conditions of Service today. Among the conditionalities added are:
3. Criminal Convictions. By registering for the Service, you represent and warrant that you have never been convicted of a felony or indictable offence and that you are not required to register as a sex offender with any governmental body.
and
17. Automatic Renewal of Subscription. In order to access all features of the Service, you must purchase a paid subscription (“Subscription”). After you have purchased a Subscription and upon providing notice to you, the Company may renew your Subscription for subsequent terms. You may choose to not have your Subscription renewed by visiting the “My Matches” page, selecting the “My Settings” link in the top navigation area, clicking the “Account Settings” subheading, and clicking the “Cancel My Subscription” link at the bottom of the page to begin the cancellation process prior to the renewal date.
and a whole lot more disclaimers.
All eHarmony registrants agreed that eH can change their terms any time without notice, and continued use of the service after any change means that the registrant agrees to these new policies. The word “representation” now appears five times, and “warranties” seven times, all of them after the word “no,” so the company is quite adamant it wont be giving any of ‘em things to you.
You’re not getting any, buster!
