The first thing you must do after subscribing to eHarmony…

… is remove your credit card number from the website.

eHarmony is notorious for charging your credit card the day before your last day on the service. Many people report they received no email reminder, no “Hello! This is Dr. Warren. Your membership is expiring in X days. Remember, we will renew it automatically.” message. The site emails its members after the fact, saying, “Congratulations, we just took money from your card again, so you can use the site another month.”

To get 100% assurance that they will not charge your card, remove your credit card from the system. It’s the first thing you must do.

The site’s fine print says that they will renew automatically without notice. Many people attempted to contact eHarmony to get refunds, and were left disappointed. The company’s customer service has figured that they’d rather have disgruntled customers than lose a few dollars issuing refunds.

But what about the discounted renewal price?

I think you mean these renewal rates:

  • 1 month initial subscriber: $49.95 per month
  • 3 months initial subscriber: $29.95 per month
  • 6 months initial subscriber: $24.95 per month
  • 12 months initial subscriber: $19.95 per month

Well, don’t worry about it. Within a few days or a couple of weeks after your membership expires, you will receive an email from eHarmony inviting you to come back, giving you an exclusive discount. The rate on this email is better than or equal to the above renewal rates, we promise!
