“Notice their commercials. They don’t feature even one interracial couple.”

This was in an anonymous comment to the original post of From Doubting Moab: “eHarmony – the good, the bad”

No interracial couple? On TV? Oh yes, they do. Look at Caroline and Aaron Ryan of Redondo Beach CA and Claire Schuster and Haroot Hakopian of Silver Springs MD.

TV Interracial Couples: Caroline and Aaron and Claire and Haroot

For more interracial couples that eHarmony advertises about, visit their Success Story page and click the links below “Read Success Stories”. You’ll find almost a dozen there.

Look at how interracial the couples get:

Interracial Couples

(None of them look like brother and sister, do they? :-) )

Their 2007 Couple of the Year for Idaho is interracial, in fact.

I would say though that I think they should represent more ethnicities in their television advertising.

So yeah, some of their MEMBERS discriminate on race, but clearly eHarmony doesn’t.

I have to say many of those are the most white interracial couples I’ve ever seen. And I agree – we don’t see interracial ads on TV as much as we should.

And what differnece does that make. Aren’t we suppose to be looking beyond race. If the subscriber indicated they would like a match from the sme race, how is that eH’s fault?

I believe that, yes let’s look beyond race, but wouldn’t it be nice for high profile companies like these, would not be afraid to show interracial couples in their adverts, like it or not, there is still a fear of showing the reality of races mixing, so as not to offend some of their potential clients, who would rather not accept this. So anonymous, I do hope you see, what you appear not to.

If you noticed that blog was dated February of last year. I have only noticed interracial couples in their commercials in the last 6 months. before that it was black with black white with white and Asian with Asian. especially in their first cycle of commercials.

Hi, my name is Rachel Winter and I am a year 13 student at Marlborough Girls’ College in Blenheim, New Zealand. I am currently doing an assessment for my media class which involves me writing an article on something I am passionate about.

The subject I have chosen to write about is how inter-racial marriages are harder to be involved in and the challenges that arise from having to learn a new culture or even language for the one you love. I am looking for sources who have had first hand experience in either an inter-racial marriage or have dealt with this topic in anyway.

Would you be prepared to answer some questions in the near future or do you know of anyone that I could talk to and question?

    Thank you for your time.
