If you attempted to use the eharmony.com website to be matched with an individual of the same sex but were denied the opportunity to do so at any time between May 31, 2004 and January 25, 2010, and were a resident of California at the time of your attempt, you may be a member of the Settlement Class entitled to make a claim from the Claim Fund.

Though a California Superior Court Justice ruled last October that eHarmony was unlawfully and intentionally excluding gays and lesbians from its services, the Kelly, Carlson and Soegi class action lawsuit agreed to drop the charges for a settlement of two million dollars.
The trial would have started on 1 February 2010.
Almost no changes will be made to the existing Compatible Partners service. (Read our review of eHarmony’s compliance to a previous New Jersey settlement.)

eHarmony Customer Service hours were reduced from 24 hours a day to 20 earlier this week. Phone agents are now only available from 4am to 12am Pacific time. Customer Care became 24 hours a day in 2007, thanks to Scott Ackerman. Email support is still round the clock, but you can’t expect an instantaneous reply there, can you?
In other news, the last freebie Compatible Partners subscription ended December 15. Between March 31 to June 15, eHarmony gave each Compatible Partners registrant a free six-month subscription. The last of those subscriptions ended yesterday.

Here is news for those who wish to participate in the California eHarmony class action lawsuit.
After issuing a series of rulings, a Los Angeles Superior Trial Court judge has set a trial date on the case, despite eHarmony’s opening “a separate business establishment” called Compatible Partners to settle with a separate complaint with the New Jersey Attorney General.
In a press release this morning from the plaintiff’s counsel
October 23, 2009 – A California Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles cleared the way for a class action discrimination jury trial against the well-known on-line dating company eHarmony.com. The jury trial will follow a series of rulings made by Judge Anne Jones, which rejected eHarmony’s attempt to dismiss the class action. The jury trial is set to begin on February 1, 2009 and to end around Valentine’s Day. It will take place in the Superior Court in Los Angeles, near eHarmony’s headquarters in Pasadena, Calif.

So the whole eHarmony-bigotry showed up a little while ago, but since I was thinking about it today, I decided to write a post about it.
If you aren’t aware of what I’m talking about, I’ll fill you in briefly: a number of people are upset that eHarmony does not match same-sex couples. There is also something out there about a misleading commercial, but I don’t know much about that.

Today is exactly six months after the launch of Compatible Partners, the website opened by eHarmony because of its settlement of a discrimination complaint with the New Jersey Attorney General. To get themselves out of the lawsuit, eHarmony made several long-term promises and commitments to the state government of New Jersey,
